Endoscopy Services at Racetrack Veterinary Services

We have highly skilled vets, vet nurses & technicians trained to provide a variety of equine endoscopy services with our range of flexible endoscopes in a way that is safe for your horse and for clients/attendants.

Facilities include:

• portable video endoscope for rapid stall-side use
• HD video endoscope for in-stable use
• regular in-clinic gastroscope days

Endoscopy is commonly used to assess the following structures: 

• pharynx & larynx
• trachea
• nares and sinuses
• guttural pouches
• oesophagus
• gastric lining

Endoscopy can be used to assess the inside of the horses body; airways, oesophagus & stomach, bladder & urethra. Mild sedation is frequently used to provide a safe environment for the horse and to enable to accurate diagnoses. Our range of video endoscopes can be used to visualise and record internal structures and conditions. Equine endoscopy is also used as an adjunct to other diagnostic procedures such as bronchoalveolar lavage. Videos are recorded, and reports generated for clients or for referrals to surgeons and specialists.
